It's Spring! The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and the flip flops are back!
But you know what else spring brings? To me, it brings a desire to make everything in my life as fresh as possible. This, right now, means organizing our home and getting rid of some things.
We went through our office a couple of weeks ago, but it still needs some work. I'd also like to get through both of our closets, and get rid of EVERYTHING we don't want or need.
But my biggest project is to tackle our dining room set. We bought it for a fantastic price on Craig's List before we got married, and while the table and hutch are wonderful, but the legs on the chairs are constantly falling off. I was originally thinking of scrapping the whole set, but now I'm really liking the idea of re-finishing the table and hutch so that we only have to buy new chairs.
For the hutch, I'm thinking of taking the doors off the top and either getting new glass for them (and getting rid of the small wood columns) or just scrapping them all together to leave the shelves open. I'm wondering if the middle piece could be removed to display both shelves in their entirety. I'd also get new hardware to modernize things a bit. For the table, I would simply buy some paint, borrow my mom's power sander, and get to work!
What do you think? Have you ever attempted a makeover of this magnitude on a piece of furniture?
